Tours

  • Green School NZ does not offer tours to the general public. The campus is open to the public during certain public events:

We have an ‘Open Campus Day’ on the 21st March 2025! Register here.

  • Once an offical enquiry has been made, the next step in the enrolment process is a visit to our campus.

    Book a campus tour here.

  • Our campus is always accessible via our virtual campus tour below. We aim to update this virtual experience every year or as needed, when the campus expands and more buildings are added to the grounds.
Our newest building, Kina, is not featured on this tour, however you can learn more about Kina here.

Evolution

The Green School Campus has evolved significantly since its founders scaled the formerly low production, low input farmland back in 2018. Now a thriving and regenerative landscape showcasing incredible visionary architecture built by locals with respect, passion and grit. Whilst the expansion plans continue and growth beckons, come see the journey the Green School site has taken thus far.

  • "With the lightest touches Green School New Zealand has transformed a 60 hectare farm into a place of deep learning."

    - BOON ARCHITECTURE

  • “Curved shapes are predominant in the architecture to create an atmosphere that supports alternative thinking. Our learning pods and combined areas are built with the lightest of touches and surrounded by native plants in what is an inspirational environment for our students to think openly and creatively, while enjoying all aspects of the exquisite outdoor setting on our doorstep.”

    - GREEN SCHOOL DESIGN TEAM

  • "This educational environment inspires learners to find out about themselves, connect with their passions, community and their core purpose so they can learn and engage with optimism, inventiveness and joy. Green School New Zealand’s new, biophilic-inspired classroom and community building makes for a safe, innovative and inspirational space that will educate the school’s future changemakers."

GSNZ Construction Phase One

The construction of the Green School New Zealand campus was challenging and complex, but also one of the most exciting and rewarding components of the entire project.

ArchiPro Visits GSNZ

ArchiPro talks to BOON Managing Director Glenn Brebner about the architecture and design of Green School New Zealand.

Waka

The first structures built on Green School New Zealand land, the original three Waka classroom’s hold a special place on campus. Nestled amongst the regenerated land and varied repurposed buildings on site, the Waka classroom’s have formed the physical learning pathways for students as they go about their day. Each design decision in creating the Waka was made with acute respect to environmental qualities that matched the schools values.

Kina

Green School New Zealand’s Kina is a biophilic-inspired building made up of classrooms and community spaces designed to enhance cognitive function and emotional wellbeing. The first of its kind in the world, the sustainably-built structure applies neuroarchitecture to education in a way that sets a groundbreaking benchmark for learning facilities of the future.

The Land

Green School extends beyond the campus bamboo gate. Green School farm is set over 121 acres and now accommodates Green School Properties and Green School New Zealand campus. Learn more about our Green School land ventures below.

  • Green School farm is set over 121 acres and now accommodates Green School Properties and Green School New Zealand campus. These commercial entities generate tens of millions in economic benefit to Taranaki. A whole of property masterplan development is now complete and work on property development and food production is nearing stage 3 of a 7-stage process.

  • We have developed wetlands and waterways with regenerative forest plantings currently total 48,000 native trees. We understand our Rural production zone requirement and Green School farm is a registered Key Native ecosystem and works directly with Taranaki Regional Council (TRC) and other agencies on biodiversity and sustainability.

  • Green School has plans to follow Venture Taranaki and TRC aligned horticultural diversification goals for Taranaki’s future. We are developing a large-scale world-class horticulture facility on site. We have global experts in many fields leading our development projects. We have enduring and successful government partnerships and all required certificates and registrations.

  • Green School Farm is a 121-acre non-viable ex-dairy farm that milked a small low production, no input, jersey herd. We graze only small body animals and contract graze local dairy farmers calves and heifers. Green School Farm is a spray free petrochemical fertiliser free property with permaculture values. Our stock is healthy and rigorous and we follow modern science and sustainable systems thinking.

“It’s as if you’re stepping into another world, there’s just something other-worldly about it. For my child to be immersed in this environment for the majority of their day is incredible. That it even exists still shocks us.”
