Green School New Zealand’s Co-Founders Michael and Rachel Perrett reflect back on their Green School journey, sharing their early motivations and a vision of a brighter and more sustainable future, led by the youth of today.

We have long had a deep-rooted belief in the power of education to shape a regenerative future. Our passion for creating a greener and more sustainable world, coupled with our desire to provide children with a unique and transformative learning experience that allows them to thrive in our ever-changing modern world, fuelled our determination to form Green School New Zealand.

Green School New Zealand is a school that provides a high-quality international education and instils a sense of harmony and balance within our students to care for themselves, the planet and one another.Our dedicated team of educators and staff have worked tirelessly to create a harmonious learning environment that ignites a passion for sustainability and empowers students to make a positive impact.  We’ve found that students thrive in an environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and social responsibility so we shape our learning experiences around those pillars of experience.

We are part of a global Green School movement that is an innovative, compassionate and environmentally conscious approach to education. The Green School methodology fits beautifully with indigenous Te Ao Māori values here in New Zealand, helping us connect with our environment and community, so we can help regenerate our planet and people. 

Our journey with Green School New Zealand has been an awe-inspiring adventure filled with motivations, challenges, and triumphs. We have transformed a 100 year old dairy farm, into a magnificent campus where children are inspired by innovation and beauty.  In an exceptionally short amount of time, we have completed numerous accreditations and qualifications both domestically and internationally, whilst nurturing a vibrant, supportive community that values sustainability, innovation, and the interconnectedness of all living beings.
