Campus

Green School New Zealand –
A campus built for inspired learning

The Green School New Zealand campus is situated in Oakura, Taranaki.

Location

The region, situated on the west coast of the North Island, is known for its majestic mountain, Surf Highway coastline, and welcoming community.

The campus itself is surrounded by a vista of hills covered in native plants, the rolling Oakura river, and sits under the watchful eye of Mt Taranaki.

“The Green School New Zealand project certainly asked that we rethink the way we traditionally put buildings together. We are privileged to be able to contribute to a project that holds such importance in education and the future of the world.”

Glenn Brebner, director, BOON Team Architects

School architecture

The Green School campus is a collaborative design developed by international and local designers, architects and engineers. Phase one was completed in 2021, and phase two (architect’s impressions below) is currently under construction and will be completed in 2022.

It has been designed from the most organic materials available, in order to function sustainably, and provide students with a shelter nestled amongst nature where they can have a safe and comfortable environment to learn and focus.

Curved shapes are predominant in the architecture to create an atmosphere that supports alternative thinking.

Our learning pods and combined areas are built with the lightest of touches and surrounded by native plants in what is an inspirational environment for our students to think openly and creatively, while enjoying all aspects of the exquisite outdoor setting on our doorstep.
